Lopez-Lavinanza clash Aug 31 in WPB

Unbeaten bantamweight Melvin “Melo” Lopez (15-0, 10 KOs) will take on Robinson Lavinanza of Chile on August 31 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. The ten round clash will be for the World Boxing Association (WBA) NABA title. The 20-year-old world-ranked Lopez, who hails from Nicaragua, will be looking to win his second regional title in the bantamweight division after claiming the World Boxing Council (WBC) youth title back in April.

Lopez is under the management of WRAM Boxing (William Ramirez) who is having a big 2018 with multiple fighters in his stable.

Earlier this year, his fighter Cristofer Rosales scored a huge upset of unbeaten Daigo Haiga by knockout as the visitor to claim the WBC flyweight title. Heavy-handed Felix Alvarado is favored by many boxing experts to defeat Randy Petalcorin in October for the IBF junior flyweight title. Lastly former world champion Byron Rojas will look to regain his crown in a rematch vs. WBA minimumweight champion Thammanoon Niyomtrong (Knockout CP Freshmart) who narrowly beat him by decision two years ago in Thailand.

If Ramirez finds himself with three world champions, all having won their titles in hostile venues on the road, he may have credentials for manager of the year consideration come year’s end.
