IBO cruiserweight champion Kevin Lerena (25-1, 12 KOs) scored a sixth round TKO 49-year-old former WBA champion Firat Arslan (47-9-3, 32 KOs) on Saturday night at the EWS Arena in Goeppingen, Germany. Lerena, 22 years Arslan’s junior, was too quick and strong for Arslan, getting the stoppage with about a dozen unanswered punches. Arslan was attempting to become the oldest boxer to win a world title. Bernard Hopkins’ record still stands.
Returning from her loss to Claressa Shields, former female middleweight champion Christina Hammer (25-1, 11 KOs) shut out Florence Muthoni (12-9-2, 6 KOs) over eight rounds.
Former European heavyweight champion Erkan Teper (21-3, 13 KOs) won a four round decision over Mykyta Nesterenko (1-3, 0 KOs).
In a clash between unbeaten super middleweights, Davide Faraci (15-0, 7 KOs) won an eight round unanimous decision over Emre Cukur (14-1, 2 KOs) Cukur was down twice in round eight
Boxing has always been fixed. Talent against a worn out or never was. This debacle is worse than normal. Yarde should be dropped from the rankings for partaking in such a joke. People paid to see such a match—Amazing!
