Lara pulls out of WBC drug-testing program

WBC #2 super welterweight Erislandy Lara has asked through his representative Luis de Cubas Jr. to be removed from the WBC’s mandatory Clean Boxing Program. This is the first time that a boxer has resigned from the program, which requires random drug testing. Per WBC rules, Lara will be removed from the WBC ratings.

Word is Lara may soon land a fight with WBA super welterweight champion Brian Castano. The WBA’s mandatory Fair Boxing program also requires random drug testing.
