Gonzalez Stops Reyes, Ready For Chocolatito

By Robert Coster

Chile’s top boxer, and its hope to be that country’s first male world champion, WBA #3 super flyweight Miguel “Aguja” Gonzalez (27-1, 6 KOs) opened the way to fight Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez on May 5th in Las Vegas with an impressive third round knockout of Mexican Sammy Reyes (20-15, 14 KOs). The very popular Gonzalez, defending his WBA Fedelatin title, dropped Reyes in the second round with a well-placed body punch to the liver. Reyes got up and fought back with grit but Gonzalez continued working the body. “Aguja” knocked down his foe twice more in the third round, the second time Reyes was counted out by the referee. The bout was held in San Francisco de Mostazal, Chile. (Rodrigo Zembrano, Promoter).
