Doheny defeats Tawatchai in IBF eliminator

Unbeaten IBF #3 jr featherweight TJ Doheny (18-0, 13 KOs) won a twelve round split decision over IBF #7 Mike Tawatchai (44-11-1 27 KOs) in an IBF 122lb eliminator on Wednesday at Suanlum Night Bazaar, Bangkok, Thailand. Tawatchai boxed aggressively from opening bell but suffered a cut eye in round four. The action see-sawed until the final bell and scores at the conclusion were Ignatius Madisalis (117-111) and Yongsak Na Songkhla (116-112) scoring for Doheny and Gil Co scoring 115-113 for Tawatchai.

New IBF MUAYTHAI welterweight champion Pinklao Bangkoknoiresort won a points decision over Pinngern Sithchefbuntam over five rounds in MUAYTHAI competition.

In other action, Ryohei Takahashi (12-3-1) scored a second round KO over Pethnamnung Sithsaithong (15-6) to capture the vacant IBF Pan Pacific junior featherweight title.

Also, Campee Phayom (13-3) won by KO in round seven over Roman Canto (12-10-3), Sitthidet Banti (8-1-1) won by KO in round two over Weerawat Sukchaisri (1-5).

Jimmy Chaichotchuang, leading IBF promoter in Thailand said, “I would like to congratulate the winner Doheny. IBF president Daryl Peoples make his first visit to Thailand for the IBF Muaythai convention. The first IBF MUAYTHAI champion is Pinklao Bangkoknoiresort in the welterweight division. More to come for the IBF MUAYTHAI convention.”
