Culcay steps in for injured Bösel

Former WBA super welterweight world champion Jack Culcay is now headlining Saturday’s SES card in Leipzig, Germany. Originally, European light heavyweight champion Dominic Bösel was slated to meet his mandatory challenger Enrico Kolling, but Bösel suffered an Achilles tendon problem and is scheduled for surgery this week. “Golden Jack” (23-3, 11 KOs), now campaigning at middleweight, meets Spaniard Adasat Rodriguez (17-7-2, 10 KOs) for the vacant EBU EU belt.

Jack Culcay: “My opponent Rodriguez is, of course, taller than me – I’m already used to that. He always wants to use the forward gear and get into a slugfest. I have to prevent that and take advantage of my speed. This will help me assert myself in the middleweight division. By the middle of next year, I want to go after the world title. Then I’ll gladly go against my friend Gennady Golovkin!”

Enrico Kolling will still be on the card against an opponent to be named.
