Former world champion Luis “Nica” Concepcion (24-2, 14 KOs) scored an exciting and hard-fought eleventh round TKO over Rober Barrera (38-9, 27 KOs to claim the vacant WBA interim flyweight title on Friday night’s KO to Drugs main event at the famed Arena Roberto Duran in Panama City, Panama.
Concepcion dropped Barrera in round two, but it was tooth and nail after that until Concepcion floored Barrera again with a right hand in the eleventh round and got the stoppage moments later. Time was 2:38.
Earlier, unbeaten light flyweight Daniel Matellon (11-0, 6 KOs) won a twelve round majority decision over Erik Lopez (14-5-1, 10 KOs) to claim the vacant WBA interim light flyweight title. Scores were 114-114, 116-112, 116-112.
In a clash for the WBA gold minimumweight title, Leyman Benavides (17-6-1, 3 KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over Carlos Ortega ((14-6-3, 5 KOs). Scores were 117-110, 118-109, 117-110.
In a WBA female super bantamweight clash, Mayerlin Rivas (16-4-2, 10 KOs) won a won a ten round unanimous decision over previously unbeaten Laura Ledezma (14-1, 7 KOs) by scores of 96-94, 98-92, 96-94 to claim the vacant title.
