Cabrera-Mioletti, Padilla clash Sept 8 at the boat

By Ricardo Ibarra

Undefeated Jr. lightweight prospect Giovanni Cabrera-Mioletti (12-0, 3 KOs) will look to add another impressive performance to his recent string of meaningful victories on Saturday, September 8th at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Washington. Headlining the 117th installment of Brian Halquist Productions’ long-running “Battle at the Boat” series, the Chicago based Cabrera-Mioletti will take on Columbia’s Carlos Padilla (16-7-1, 10 KOs) in a ten round match-up.

Cabrera-Mioletti, who is originally from Seattle, has put together a solid series of wins in his last three fights, including two victories over undefeated fighters. In January Cabrera-Mioletti kicked off the year defeating former USBA lightweight title holder Tyrone Harris by unanimous decision. He followed that up with a spectacular second round stoppage win over the then unbeaten Ray Lampkin. In his most recent fight this past June, the quick-fisted boxer claimed a unanimous decision win over Elijah Pierce, who was also undefeated at the time.

Meanwhile Padilla, a pro since 2010, has faced some stern competition in his twenty-four paid prize fights. In 2015 he battled Emanuel Lopez for the interim WBA super featherweight title, losing his title bid via 9th round TKO. In his last fight he was stopped by Ladarius Miller this past February.

Cabrera-Mioletti and Padilla will meet at an agreed upon 131 pounds over ten rounds. Five fights will make up the undercard.

In what promises to be an action-filled affair, the always exciting Jorge Linares (4-1, 3 KOs), of Seattle, will take on rangy boxer Shae Green (1-0-1), of Kent, Washington, in a five round Jr. welterweight contest.

In what should be another interesting five round fight, Yakima, Washington’s Andres Reyes (7-3-1, 2 KOs) will square off with Sean Gee (4-8), of Portland, in a welterweight scrap.

Rounding out the rest of the card will be Cris Reyes (3-0, 2 KOs) taking on Keith Wolf (0-1) in a four round Jr. welterweight fight; Juan Gomez (1-0, 1 KO) will meet Marco Flores (1-1) over four rounds in a Jr. lightweight battle; and in a four round 140-pound match-up between pro debuters, Andres Garcia Albaca takes on Luis DeAlba.

Tickets to the event can be purchased at the EQC box office and all Ticketmaster outlets. For more information, visit www.halquistproductions.com and the Battle at the Boat Facebook page.
