Boxing Betting Notes

On a weekend of upsets, late sub Hector “Puma” Garcia’s win was the biggest with Chris Colbert going down in flames as a 33:1 favorite. In other upsets, 20:1 favorite Kanat Islam, 11:1 favorite Guillermo Rigondeaux, and 7:1 favorite Jerwin Ancajas all took unexpected losses.

There was almost another major upset with 13:1 favorite Josh Taylor. Sportsbook Paddy Power called Taylor’s split decision win over Jack Catterall “a robbery” and they refunded bets on Catterall!

Taking a quick look at this weekend’s odds, Jose Ramirez is a 6:1 favorite over Jose Pedraza, and Chocolatito Gonzales is a slight -150 favorite over JC Martinez.

    • Lucie:
      – 6 to 1 odds on Pedraza winning will get you $.60 if you bet a dime on Pedroza 🙂
      – Take care.

  • Don’t care about the Ramirez fight but Gonzalez vs Martinez is going to great. Going with the underdog. Martinez is young, hungry, can punch and fight all day.

    • I have that feeling too Pete. I think Martinez might be too young for Chocolotito at this stage. (I am the Canadian Pete) . LOL!

    • Thats true and hard to argue with. Except Gonzalez is experieneced, hungry and can punch and fight all day.

This really is a toss up. But I got to root for the legendary Gonzalez.

  • Parlaying favorites is often a good betting strategy. This many major upsets in one weekend is pretty rare.

    • You are better off taking live underdogs-a loss on a big favorite takes a long time to recover from. Don’t really like parlays-going 1-1 results in a loss instead of an almost push.

  • Nice to see some bets in favour of Catterall were pay back, because It was a nasty robbery.
