Andrade: I’m going to make a statement

WBO middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade today addressed claims that his fights are boring:

“As long as Matchroom, DAZN, and everybody does their job to make sure that Demetrius Andrade’s being promoted and we’re doing what we need to do to promote, people are going to come out because they know I have the talent, skill, and I’m going to bring a fight if the other opponent is also going to bring a fight.

“We’re not in here to, you know, bore anybody. Boxing has nothing boring about it. It’s a strategic bout and everything we do is that way. So all I know is I’m 30-0, a 2000 Olympian and two-division world champion. How is that boring?

“Today is about me and Quigley dancing and getting it on and may the best man win. There’s going to be a performance and I’m going to make a statement and then I continue to make statements every single time. All I keep doing is winning so that’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to go in there and dance.”

  • Andrade (and his camp) will need to find a way to fight Lara, Munguia and/or Derevyanchenko. Otherwise, Andrade will remain in boxing darkness.

  • 30 fights and not one worth watching a second time. Dude is just a boring fighter. He should be glad he’s made the money he has because in the grand scheme of things he’s a nobody.

  • I kind of feel bad for Andrade because he’s good enough to be avoided by other top fighters at 160 and 168 while not creating enough of a buzz for others to want to step into the ring with him or want to watch him. He’s also approaching his mid-thirties and needs a defining fight sooner than later but appears less likely to get one than he did two or three years ago. Unfortunately, there will never be a long line of guys looking to toss hands with a tall, rangy southpaw with good power and handspeed who’s a stylistic nightmare for almost anybody. His only saving graces are being promoted by Matchroom and holding a piece of the middleweight championship. I just hope he catches a break and gets a crack at the Triple G-Murata winner. He could also create some buzz by calling out David Benavides and promote it as a matchup of the middleweight and super middleweight boogeymen. Time to get creative and crate some buzz.

  • If Andrade cannot make a statement against the ordinary Quigley then I am concerned for him.

  • People think you are boring because you box,use your intelligence and are a patient man,,all the ingredients of a champion. Would like to see you fight GGG,beat him and silence the critics

  • This guy Andrade KO’s his fans by putting them to sleep because his fights are so boring. He doesn’t KO any of his UNK opponents. I am a boxing fan and I never heard of these guys he fights.
