Wilder: Bombzquad is back!

“It’s been a long journey for me and as of today it continues,” said former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder upon the announcement of his October PPV clash against Robert Helenius. “I thought so many times about whether I should stay out of the business or come back. Once I got my statue in my hometown and saw so many people arrive and celebrate with me and my family, to see all the emotions, grown men crying in front of their children and saying he is a real true king, made me feel like my job is not done.

“So, here I am once again, looking forward to returning to the ring. I am looking forward to coming to Barclays Center, a place where I have had my most devastating knockouts and a place I consider my second home. So where all my Bombzquad people at? It’s time to put on your war gear. And let’s go to work, baby. Bombzquad is back!”

    • Not likely Helenius will get bulldozed by the first serious punch he eats and everyone will say Wilder is back

      • Helenius is strong but he did get knocked out by 2 opponent that landed right hands.

  • Grown men crying in front of their children saying he is a real true king! Is this guy serious? What a true bag of a man. Hey Wilder, you got KTFO by the KING of the division, Tyson Fury. Twice! Just another classless Paluka.

    • This man is an inspiration. He started boxing in his late 20’s to support his daughters medical bills because she has a back condition. Won the bronze medal with limited boxing experience and became worlds champion with the highest ko rate in boxing history as a heavy weight. You sound like a hater or a racists or a racists hater.

      • Your not really sure about boxing are you mate! As soon as he met someone else who has more ring savvy he got exposed big time !!!

      • An inspiring personal story, no argument. But being made a paper champion and having no real ability to actually box only takes you so far.

      • Ahh yes the good ole “you don’t like this black guy who is an inspiration because he can throw a punch therefore you ARE RACIST”!!! card. It never ends. God forbid you criticize someone of a different race without getting called a racist. Not that I really care, it’s just funny to me that that’s the first thing people like you always cry about. Sad.

    • Wilder at @212½ for the first Fury fight had a lot more than the heavy, slower and gassing out Wilder for the second and third fight. Wilder brought a lot to heavyweight boxing, even with his limited boxing skills. His right hand was always a factor, made him a dangerous heavyweight, which in boxing is always an attraction. If you can’t see that you can’t be a boxing fan, just a troll and a hater.

      • He brought excitement back to the division. Also firing his first trainer was a mistake. He was much better the first time. Like him or hate him he’s good for the division.

  • He is fun to watch but I did not miss hearing him scream that every time he popped up on something.

    • I don’t think he’d be screaming that after being destroyed by Fury, nay come up with a new scream instead haha

  • Hate or love him, can’t be denied, he is an entertaining fighter and taking Helenius as his come back fight after being badly defeated by fury, is a solid statement of no fear, a real desire to regain his previous status.

  • Is it me or do you think Wilder took this fight against Helenius because he looks like a poor man’s Tyson Fury and he knows he’s gonna knock him out maybe around three? Just wondering

  • Just realised that Lennox Lewis non title wins vs Mercer and Morrison were better wins than Wilder did as champ.

  • BUM SQUIRT!
The Heavyweight Champion of Alabama is back, huh? Well, let’s hope he’s learned to actually, you know, BOX. I’ve no doubt that if Fury gives up the WBC strap Deontay will pick it back up out of the trash can, though; and Helenius is precisely the kind of quasi-credible, Bermane Stiverne-like opponent Wilder has used the past several years to rack up wins while not being exposed as little more than a tall, lanky, awkward fighter.

Maybe after Joshua loses to Usyk again this weekend? Wilder and Joshua finally pair up for Fury’s vacated WBC belt. Why not?

  • Like him or hate him, the HW division misses Wilder. He brought back the crunch in the HW division. Who cares about the opponent, Wilder was flatlining guys. Wladimir is an example of fighting an under matched opponent an not finishing them off. Wilder brings excitement and anticipation to the division its never going to be a snooze fest. I lost respect for Wilder for comments he made about his former trainer. I saw him in an interview where he wished nothing but bad things in life for his former training. On a brighter side the man started his career in his 20’s, earned a bronze medal, worked his way up to the rankings with a brittle chin, limited skills and became WBC HWY champion of the world to support his children with special medical needs. The man is living the dream of “pull himself by the bootstrap.” If you still can’t respect him for that, clearly you’re the problem and don’t know boxing. If you don’t appreciate how difficult it is, look at Efe Ajaba. Folks thought he was the next Wilder because he had limited skills and power. He just got exposed before cracking the top 10.

  • Anyone who says “grown men crying in front of their children and saying he is the real, true king” needs mental help and are just as unstable mentally as wilder. The guy was told his whole career he was better than God and when he fought a real boxer he got seven bells of shit smacked out of him. That’s all there is to it. You don’t have to like what I say.. however, disagreeing shows how mentally deluded you are.

  • Really good fight, but IDK if it’s PPV worthy! Promoters and TV OutLets should really consider doing $30 PPV for stuff like this. Bet they’d get more viewers! As for Helenius, he looks good when fighting B-C level fighters. Deontay is going to blast him out of there within 5 rounds

  • Am I the only one that doesn’t like Helenius as an opponent for Wilder? I mean it will be a good fight but think Wilder may be picking a tougher fight than he should be coming back.

  • Imagine getting the holy hell beaten out of you for three fights against the same guy and men being cucks and crying calling you “king” in front of their kids. Boot lickers following frauds. People don’t like that here but it’s facts over your god damned feelings. Wilder sucks… You do too if you don’t like facts.
