Unified WBA/IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (21-0, 20 KOs) and challenger Alexander Povetkin (34-1, 24 KOs) showed their skills to the boxing public on Wednesday night. Joshua, Povetkin plus many undercard fighters entered the ring at the famed York Hall.
Povetkin shook out, hit the pads and left the ring. Joshua jumped rope, hit the pads and stuck around to answer a few questions.
“He might have a good left hook but I have to annihilate that early,” said Joshua. “He has a lot of things in his locker so we have to shut him down early…the win is the most important thing, but, of course the knockout is always entertaining and boosts up the stock.”
