Claressa ‘GWOAT’ Shields, boxing’s first-ever undisputed world champion of two weight divisions, has signed a multi-fight, seven-figure deal along with her longtime promoter Salita Promotions, with broadcaster Sky Sports and the next generation promoter BOXXER.
Undefeated three-division world champion Shields (11-0, 2 KOs) will enter the ring in the Welsh capital city of Cardiff for a mandatory defense of her WBC world middleweight title on December 11 against the undefeated WBC #1 contender Ema Kozin (21-0-1, 11 KOs). Her WBA and IBF belts are also on the line.
Shields and WBO middleweight champion Savannah Marshall (11-0, 9 KOs) are on a collision course in 2022.
Marshall holds a 2012 amateur victory over Shields – the only time Shields has ever lost in the ring – and the two wish to settle their grudge in a blockbuster professional rematch. To get there, they must first both deal successfully with their respective mandatory title defenses.
“I’m excited to return back to my first love – boxing,” said Shields who recently was defeated in an MMA bout. “And fighting as a professional in the UK has always been a dream for me. Hopefully I’ll be one step closer to shutting Savannah Marshall’s mouth with a victory on December 11th.”
