Another episode of the series “The Interview I Never Had,” this time with ring legend Oscar De La Hoya in a very relaxed, yet deep, chat about life and the meaning of boxing in it.

Wasn’t he supposed to fight an exhibition?.. I remember him talking about feeling great and getting back in shape for a fight on DAZN a few months ago
Yes, that is correct. However, I read on other media websites he decided not to fight Belfort since he was unsatisfied with his progress in training.
He chickened out after Belfort knocked out Holyfield in one.
Queer boy de la hoya smh
Lost the big fights, never beat a legend smh
So JCC is not a legend in your view?
JCC was a shell of his former self.
Sweet Pea, Maybe. I had Pernell winning
Sweet Pea, Hector Comacho……. JCC twice (faded JCC)
I’ve washed my hands with Oscar years ago! He is one of the most deceptive, sneaky, sexual harassing, arrogant S.O.B in boxing! He pretends like he’s so transparent when I fact he’s a cheat!!
he is way overrated as a fighter and person. i was done with him after he ran from trinidad the whole fight.
He didn’t run the whole fight but he ran the last few rounds. I actually still think he won that fight.
DLH was actually an excellent fighter with pop and the skills to match. He fought the best fighters even when moving up in weight. He may not have won them all but he put a lot on the line and was willing to take risk to make Boxing exciting. He was well spoken so you pansies cant accuse him of sounding like a “thug”. Great smile, looks, manners, Olympic gold, etc..
He moved against Trinidad the last rounds but Trinidad was very dangerous puncher and he had the fight won.
Not sure why the knock on Oscar, based on what he did inside the ring. He was actually good for the sport.
Most of the backlash is because Oscar wanted Canelo to make the big fights and you sided with Canelo.
One item I say on my behalf is… I admire Oscar more as a fighter than a manager/promoter.
Agree with you, NJ Boxing, on ODLH as a fighter.
Agreed NJ. ODLH was great for the sport (as a fighter). Can’t think of anybody who has a stronger line-up of opponents than Oscar.
– Watched the entire interview.
– Thank you for posting it.
You call beating Genaro Hernandez, JC Chavez (twice), Pernell Whitaker, Ike Quartey, and Fernando Vargas not winning the big fights? You’re a tough dude to please.
You can add Rafael Ruelas, Miguel Angel Gonzalez, Hector Camacho and Oba Carr.
