Fury announces social media blackout

WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has been hurling insults on social media toward April 23 opponent Dillian Whyte on almost a daily basis. But now Fury says he will be on radio silence until fight week.

“Hi Tyson Fury here, aka The Gypsy King. I’m about to go off social media completely for the next eight-and-a-half weeks. I’m gonna go into training camp to give Dillian Whyte all the respect in the world…I’ll never underestimate anyone in my life. I want to give this man all the respect he deserves coming as the #1 ranked WBC heavyweight challenger in the world today.

“Please don’t phone me, call me, email me, text me or try to contact me in any single way because I am out of bounds until May. So fantastic time, I will see you all at the press conference and I’ll be training away. Please appreciate my privacy and space.”

  • Yep, we have heard this story before about Fury. Basically, Fury is saying time to train and minimize distractions. However, Fury has always struggled with staying focused for long extended periods of time.

    • You sound like a broken record. You point out his lack of focus on just about every Fury article. However, it’s been years since we’ve seen that Fury. Actually, we haven’t seen it at all since he’s made his comeback. Maybe a bit in that Wallin fight but he suffered a severe cut and instantly zoned in and took care of business. He stood and traded with Wilder for 3 fights and won all three, a guy who was bulldozing everyone he fought.

      • Berserker
Fury was not well prepared or in his best condition for Wilder3. but it was good enough for the win and an entertaining fight. he needs to do better for Whyte

      • Berserker, I may sound like a broken record to some, but Fury’s record is broken as well when it comes to fight preparation. We have seen proof of his varied focus skills as a fighter as well as his social rants on multiple times. Guess that is part of who he is. Yep, my record may be broken when I discuss Fury, but once his era is over and done, I am sure I will nit-pick on the next champion :).

    • agree, Fury needs to show up better prepared and in better shape for Whyte.
Wilder3 condition may not be good enough for this one

      • You guys are clueless about Fury. He will never have a Mr Olympia body, but saying was not in shape for Wilder is just plain ignorant. He bulked up for a reason and it was to bully Wilder, but he was in fantastic shape to go 12 rounds.

        • SteveG
nonsense, he was not at his best in wilder3. couldnt throw his jab enough or box as effectively as he should, so he had to brawl.
made for a fantastic fight. but not his best. he can be much better

          • You are completely wrong. Fury learned from the first fight in the 12th rd after getting up from the knockdown that Wilder could not fight going backwards. So he bulked up for the 2nd and 3rd fights and took the fight to him.. He knew he had the skills to go straight at Wilder and take him out. He knew his extra weight would help also be a serious advantage in helping wear wilder down by leaning on him. Fury is a lot of things but to say he didn’t prepare properly for wilder is one of the most ignorant statements I’ve ever read. Fury knew exactly what he needed to do in training and in the ring and he accomplished that goal in spectacular fashion!

  • Guess I’m not going to phone The Gypsy King to see if he wants to hang out this weekend 🙂

  • LOOK FURY IS A FIGHTER NO MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOUR EVERYDAY FACTORY WORKER… IF FURY DOESN’T WANT TO BE BOTHERED THEN MAYBE HE SHOULD KEEP THAT BIG MOUTH OF HIS SHUT

  • “aka The Gypsy King”? Known by whom? In the age of branding, I suppose it’s better than “the new Greta Garbo.”

  • Im sure nobody would have noticed he went silent if he hadn’t made this big announcement. Not sure what happened but he appear to be humbled enough to finally show some respect for his fellow boxer.
Or, is it he figured he wouldn’t get credit for beating a “bum” and now he better talk him up and appear to take the fight serious. Surely if the fight wasn’t made Whyte would still be a “loser” according to Fury.

  • Say what you want, Fury moves as good or better than Ali and a young Tyson. Fury knows, just like Bo knows, his 6’9″ frame and 85″ reach makes him a top 5 heavyweight of all time. already!!!

    • – Agree that Fury moves extremely well for a huge man. Pivots around the waste. Wouldn’t compare his movement to either Ali or Tyson, though.
      – Take care.

    • I’LL TELL YA HE’S NO TOP 5 HEAVYWEIGHT AND THAT’S FOR SURE.. BUT HE’S TALLER AND HAS A BETTER REACH… WOULD HE BEAT ALI.. COME ON MAN GET SERIOUS ALI WOULD HALF KILL THIS GUY… BUT THIS DAY AND AGE AND AT THIS TIME I GOTTA THINK HE’S THE BEST OUT THERE FOR NOW.. NO DISRESPECT TO ANYBODY AT LEAST OF ALL YOU OR FURY BUT HE DOESN’T MOVE NO WHERE BETTER THAN ALI DID… GOTTA SAY THIS ALSO THE MAN DOES HAVE A PUNCH AS AWKWARD AS HE IS HE CAN HIT

    • On what are you on ?! Give me some of that shit, don’t even compare him to Ali or Tyson !
Fury’s technique is being way bigger and heavier than his opponents, then he grabs them and puts his fridge on them all night long to tire them..

  • On fight night, Fury will enter the ring (ready to rock) for a TKO victory against Whyte.
