By Héctor Villarreal

After months of battling various diseases, former WBA featherweight champion Ernesto “Ñato” Marcel died early Monday morning in Panama City.

Marcel was one of the four world champions that his country had at the same time in 1972, along with Roberto Duran, Alfonso Frazer and Enrique Pinder and is remembered for having retired while still having the title, after defeating the legendary Alexis Argüello.
