Gold Coast-based super featherweight Billel “Baby Face” Dib (22-3, 10 KOs) clearly outscored Bruno Vifuaviwili (21-2-1, 5 KOs) over ten rounds at Seagulls Rugby League Club, Tweed Heads, NSW on Saturday. Dib, a cousin of former IBF featherweight champion Billy Dib, controlled the rounds connecting with accurate head and body shots. Vifuaviwili had trouble landing his blows on the fleet-footed Dib who won by scores Ian Batty 100-90, Natasha Chapman 100-90, Kristen Perrin 98-92.
Dib had lost a decision to Vifuaviwilli in March, but in this bout Dib showed he is improving under trainer two-time WBC light heavyweight challenger Paul Briggs. Dib defeated Carlos Padilla but lost to Yuandale Evans in USA contests in 2016 and 2017. He has a law practice on the Gold Coast.
In other action, light heavyweight Reagan Dessaix (16-1, 10 KOs) outpointed Michael Van Nimwegan (10-6, 4 KOs) over six rounds. Dessaix dropped Nimwegan in round one but he recovered to go the distance. Scores at the conclusion 60-53, 60-53, 60-52.
Also former Commonwealth light middleweight challenger Rocky Jerkic (16-1, 13 KOs) returned to action as a super middleweight and stopped Komgrit Nanakorn (18-28, 8 KOs) in round three of a scheduled four.
