  • Smart fight by Haney, used his length to keep prograis at range as expected. I always say length is the biggest advantage in boxing if used properly. Prograis could never get inside and get his punches off.

I think Haney can easily fight at welterweight as there’s no doubt he walks around at about 160 – 165lbs.

This fight makes Loma’s performance against him even more amazing considering his short reach and the fact he repeatedly got inside and ultimately out landed haney over the course of their fight.

    • DMV is a one trick pony. She makes an outlandish comment then doesn’t even have the balls to defend it.

    • I don’t know about Loma’s performance but Haney’s performance makes his argument about weight loss more valid more than Loma’s performance. Short reach…. Manny, Pernell and Marciano had short reach and they destroyed larger opponents. Maybe Loma isn’t as good in the pros as he was in the amateur’s.

  • Devin deserves his props! He fought a fighter that looked like a club fighter not a champion. I have never seen a champion at that level who doesn’t know how to cut off the ring and followed the fighter all night taking a complete ass whipping. They should remove his ass from any rankings is how he fought, after seeing that all the slick boxers of today win against Prograis, he basic as hell!

      • A “club fighter” who Lopez was scared to fight and who was champ at 140. Now you’re starting to sound like a hater.

    • Nope Devin is on a different level. He can get inside and out without getting hit. Not many boxers can do it the way Haney did it.

  • Whitaker and Mayweather didn’t hang around at 140 for long. Whitaker played around at 140 starting in late 1987 till mid 1992, had like 6 fights between 137-141.
From early 1975-mid 1978, Duran had 10 fights from 138-142 lbs.
Haney has been a dried down lightweight, so he probably has been like a 140 lbs fighter for awhile.

Prograis should retire. (Why start MMA at 35 yrs old?) If you don’t win a single round on any of 3 judges cards, you probably didn’t really win a round. But if he lost 119-108 , could Prograis still be a title search guy? Maybe if he lost 117-110.
Why doesn’t Haney fight Jack Catterall (#4 WBC) in England. If he beats him 117-110 in England, I’d say he’s got any southpaw defeated at 140. Eddie Hearn could make that fight easy.
If Haney defends against any top 4 WBC guy at 140, you can’t say he wasn’t legit at 140 before he jumped up to 147.

  • VERY IMPRESSIVE WIN for Haney insane one sided punch stats. Announcers sucked, all talking up Haney who LOST to Lomo in my opinion. Outlanded 124-110 by Lomo. But maybe he too big to make 135 THere are tougher tests at 140 than Progris

    • You guys had so much invested in Loma its ridicules. You can sleep good at night thinking Haney lost but its a fantasy. Loma ruined his shot at being a good champ by hiding behind a franchise belt. When he couldnt run no more he lost to the guy he hid from. Not sure why so much sympathy for Loma except he was your biggest and only hope in the game. Many other boxers have lost a close decision and you guys never mention it.
How many more years will you’ll try to sour Haney’s accomplishments in the comments anytime his name come up. Why not complain to the judges or the commission. btw, Loma is done

      • We will complain as long as you keep writing your ignorant race baiter comments. Mr. One brick city.

  • Haney will move to 147 when Crawford and Spence are no longer around; that could be in 2025, but meanwhile, he has big fights at 140, like Teofimo Lopez, Ryan Garcia, Subriel Matias, Rolly Romero, and Jose Ramirez, so he can try to unify the division and, at 27, right on his primes, go to 147.

  • And nobody ask him about Subriel Matias ? , he only talk about the weak fighters( Ryan, Roly)

    • Yeah a nobody that generates a shit load of money. Haney wants some of that money to add to his growing star power.

  • Let’s stop with the bias. Subriel Matias already has a loss on his record, and has struggled with a couple of pedestrian fighters; he is not the monster that some of y’all make him out to be. Haney’s style is all wrong for the plodder Matias, easy work. Y’all don’t know, s**t about boxing. Just because a guy uses angles, rolls, and tries to hit and not get hit, he’s a runner, etc. Loma has 3 losses in less than 20 fights, get off his nuts. I never seen a fighter that is as protected as Loma and we all know the reason why.

    • DMV – Loma Protected?!? That is the most ignorant statement I have ever read on this forum.

19 title fights in 20 fights. Moved up several divisions to chase the best.

And through all of that His only losses were to guys way bigger.

One didn’t make weight but loma fought him anyway.

The other two had to move up in weight because they couldn’t physically make that weight again.

And he was clearly the more talented guy in each of those matchups.

You are clearly a racist person with your constant disrespect of Loma.

      Pathetic and sad!

I feel sorry for you that you have that much hate for a person of different ethnicity than yourself.

      Racist troll.

      • Devin Haney defeated Zaur Abdullaev and won the WBC interim title, thus becoming the WBC mandatory challenger. Lomachenko opted to be named the WBC “franchise champion” and Haney was elevated from interim to world champion. This prompted Haney to accuse Lomachenko of “ducking” him.[1]
        Wikipedia.
IMO, to all of a sudden create bogus “franchise champion status” where he was allowed to choose his next opponent and no longer be in the obligation to face a WBC mandatory (Haney in this case), that is clearly a protective action.

        • Burucho, remember it’s a business. Think about it, Haney was given an interim belt when Loma was chasing other fights for legacy. Haney at that time had fought who? Mason Menard, Juan Carlos burgos? No one that would bring money or legacy to Loma at that time. Haney hadn’t even fought Linares by then. How many champions, true champions have gotten out of fighting a mandatory? Endless amounts. Why? Because the person ranked didn’t deserve it or brings nothing to the table as far as money, legacy, or even being competitive. Fighting Haney at that time brought Loma nothing not a belt, money, legacy, nothing. Fast forward: Haney eventually ends up with all the belts by way of kambosos. Loma had been out, due to him serving his country whether you agree or not with Ukraines war. He did the honorable thing unlike Haney, he would turn his back on this country in a heartbeat. Anyways. Haney had no choice but to fight Loma because he knew he couldn’t duck it. The rest is history and watch Haney will continue to duck or cherry pick.

        • Please go and review Loma’s record on Boxrec. Just remember he fought for the title in his second pro and almost won!!! Has has 16 title fights out of a total of 20 fights i.e. 80% of his pro fights have been title fights. Surely that is the highest in boxing history.

  • Haney will get his ass kicked if he moves to 147. Crawford will eat Haney alive. Even Spencer will eat Haney alive. There are at least 5 fighters better than Haney at 147.

    • Comments in the past stated Haney was a fake at 135lb…becomes undisputed champion,,,won’t have the power at 140…. becomes world champion…get his arse kicked at 147lb…well we will wait and see.
Did you see his last 2 opponents faces after the fights,,,,bruised and bloodied from the relentless jab, perfect timed punches and yes whilst the Loma bout was very close,he still did enough to win.
Like I said ,,,,at 147lb we will see…..
      Just my opinion … cheers

  • I think some of you people forget that boxing isn’t just about trying to knock someone out! It’s about ring craft IQ, slipping punches, counterpunching etc. like Ali once said ,float like a butterfly and sting like a bee. To hit and not be hit.
Haney is good at it, Mayweather was good at it.
And I think Haney will more than hold his own at 147lb

  • I was impressed with Haney’s skill and ring generalship. However, there is no disputing that he doesn’t have the killer instinct to finish a guy off. He hurt Progreis 3 or 4 times and didn’t go in for the kill. It was like a poor man’s Mayweatheresque performance.

    • Haney said very clear in the press conference, greediness almost cost him the fight against Linares, so being Prograis a better puncher, he decide to stick to the game plan any time he hurt him, because he never had Prograis badly hurt.
