Benn meets Van Heerden on April 16

Conor ‘The Destroyer’ Benn (20-0, 13 KOs) will defend his WBA Continental welterweight title against Chris Van Heerden (28-2-1, 12 KOs) at the AO Arena in Manchester on Saturday April 16, live worldwide on DAZN (excluding New Zealand and Australia as usual).

The undercard sees European cruiserweight champion Chris Billam-Smith (14-1, 10 KOs) rematch Tommy McCarthy (18-3, 9 KOs) following their battle at the Matchroom HQ last summer. Also, super featherweight contender Zelfa Barrett (27-1, 16 KOs) challenges European champion Faroukh Kourbanov (19-3, 3 KOs), cruiserweight talent Jordan Thompson (12-0, 10 KOs) faces TBA, lightweight Campbell Hatton (6-0, 2 KOs) quickly returns to action after fighting last month, and super middleweight “Little Lever’s Meat Cleaver” Jack Cullen (20-3-1, 9 KOs) faces TBA.

  • I like the way they’re bringing Benn up gradually rather than rushing him into a one-time payday. The kid has upside.

  • Not gonna even try and make a comparison, but you know that Tito Trinidad was already a champ by the time he was 21 years old with the same amount of fights!! I was really hoping for someone like Broner at this time?!
