Jeyvier Cintron off tonight’s card in Panama

Due to an injury of his tonight opponent, the WBO Latino champion at 115 pounds, Jeyvier Cintron will not fight on the show that will take place at the WBO Convention in Panama City, Panama, although he could return to the ring soon. Cintron (8-0, 4 kos), the only Puerto Rican to fight in two Olympic Games (2012 and 2016), was going to face the Panamanian Ricardo “El Matemático” Nunez (29-8, 23 kos) in one of the main matches tonight, but Nuñez was injured and the bout will not take place.

“Núñez suffered an injury and he was not going to be able to fight, so we were trying to get another rival for Jeyvier to fight, but we could not and the fight will not happen,” said Peter Rivera, who works Cintron’s career. “Now we are working on the possibility to include Jeyvier in the card that we have scheduled for November 24 at the Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino, we hope to have it on that event with Pitufo (Christopher Díaz) and Popeye (Luis Lebrón), who are already confirmed for that date.”

For Cintron, who is ranked #9 by the WBO at 115 pounds and holds the WBO world Youth WBO title at 118 pounds, what happened with the fight against before Nunez is unfortunate, but are things that happen in this sport.

“I came well prepared and ready to look good in this great event, but this came up and nothing can be done, they are things that happen in boxing, I want to thank the WBO for the opportunity to be in their Convention and be able to fight in. We are going to keep working hard to get back into the ring soon, ” said the Top Rank boxer, who is trained by former double world champion Ivan” Iron Boy “Calderón.
