Miami-based Briton Charlie Hoy (13-0, 8 KOs) won the vacant WBA super flyweight Fedelatin title with a second round TKO over Rafael Rodriguez (11-1, 7 KOs) in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The 5’1″ Hoy nullified the height and reach advantage of the 5’7″ Rodriguez by fighting inside and dropped the Dominican with a hook to the body. Rodriguez got up on unsteady legs and the referee stopped the bout. Hoy, a former UK amateur star, opens the door with this win to the WBA rankings.
