Boxing returns Friday to Hanover, MD

The Jeter Promotions card slated for Friday, February 28th at Live! Casino in Hanover, MD is almost complete.

The main event has Laurel, MD super middleweight Demond “D’Best At It” Nicholson returning in a scheduled 10-round bout against Mike Guy of Sacramento, CA. Nicholson (22-3-1, 20 KO’s) makes his third straight trip to Live! Casino. Last time out, Nicholson won an eight-round unanimous decision over Devaun Lee on October 18th. This will be Nicholson’s second bout since being hospitalized for kidney problems last May. Guy (12-4-1, five KO’s) is currently riding a three-bout winning streak which includes an eight-round split decision win over Denis Douglin on November 15th in Salt Lake City, UT.

There will be two title bouts on this card. One will be a 10-round battle for the Maryland State Cruiserweight title as undefeated Greenbelt, MD’s “Vanilla Gorilla” Sam Crossed takes on “Slick” Nick Kisner of Baltimore, MD. Crossed (9-0, five KO’s) last fought on December 14th and won a four-round unanimous decision over Michael Davis in Vienna, VA. This will be Crossed’s first scheduled 10-rounder. Kisner (21-5-1, six KO’s) will look to recover after his last loss at Live! Casino on October 18th when he was knocked out in the second round by Danny Kelly.

There will also be a contest for the vacant WBC Youth Intercontinental Super Featherweight title between Washington DC’s Jordan “Shortdog” White and Ronaldo “Criminal” Solis of Cancun, Mexico. This bout is scheduled for eight rounds. White (9-1, seven KO’s) has won his last five bouts since suffering his only loss in May of 2017. White comes off a fourth-round TKO win over Vincent Jennings on August 2nd at Live! Casino. Solis (4-0-1, three KO’s) will compete in the United States for the first time. He last scored a second-round TKO over Arturo Hernandez on September 7th in Cancun.

Germantown, MD featherweight Ebrima Jawara will be in a six-round bout against Philip Davis of Worcester, MA. Since losing his pro debut in March of 2019, Jawara (3-1, one KO) has looked impressive in his victories, winning two of his last three bouts against Beltway Boxers, both at Live! Casino. Jawara won a six-round unanimous decision over Marq Johns that took place on August 2nd and followed that bout with another six-round unanimous decision win against James Early on October 18th. Davis (2-2-1) comes off a four-round split decision loss to Carlos Marrero on September 20th in Worcester.

Suitland, MD featherweight “The Ambitious One” Malik Loften will take on Charles Clark of Dallas, TX in a contest slated for six rounds. Loften (4-1, two KO’s) comes off a second-round TKO victory over Omar Ethridge on the October 18th card at Live! Casino. Ethridge (2-6-1, one KO) lost a six-round unanimous decision to Basil Ali Nassar on December 7th in Dearborn, MI.

Clinton, MD featherweight Jay Stancil III will be in a four-round bout against Rafael Castillo of Bronx, NY. Stancil III won his pro debut on October 18th at Live! Casino with a four-round unanimous decision over Rensley Washington III. Castillo (1-4) lost a four-round unanimous decision to Raymond Ford on September 13th in New York City.

Arnold, MD super featherweight Blaze Fidler Hernandez will be in a four-round contest against Edward Hatler of Corydon, IN. Hernandez (0-0-1) looks for his first win after battling to a four-round draw with Antonio Dunton-El, Jr. on the October 18th Live! Casino card. Hatler (1-1) lost by four-round unanimous decision to Kelvin Smith on July 13th in Homestead, NY.

Owings Mills, MD lightweight Brandon “Brody” Chambers will face Christopher Haney of Glendale Heights, IL for the third time in four contests. Chambers (2-0-1, one KO) and Haney (0-5-2) fought to a four-round draw on March 8th at Live! Casino. Chambers then won a four-round unanimous decision over Haney on October 18th at Live! Casino. Chambers has not fought since the last time he faced Haney. Haney lost by first-round KO to Fernando Martinez on December 15th in Gary, IN.

Cockeysville, MD middleweight AJ “We Are” Williams will face Michael Brock Willis of West Virginia in another four-round rematch. Williams (2-1, one KO) won the first encounter with Willis by a four-round unanimous decision on August 2nd at Live! Casino. Willis (1-5-1, one KO) lost his last bout by four-round unanimous decision to Richie Cantolina on November 2nd in Canonsburg, PA.

In yet another four-round rematch, middleweight Maurice Winslow, III of Stone Mountain, GA will be in a four-round bout against Dewayne Williams of Philadelphia, PA. Winslow (3-1, two KO’s) defeated Williams (2-2, one KO) by four-round unanimous decision on November 16th in Glen Burnie, MD. Since that bout, Williams bounced back and scored a first-round TKO over Brent Oren on December 14th in Harrisburg, PA. Winslow has not fought since the first bout with Williams.

Baltimore, MD super featherweight Ernest “Frost” Hall is looking for an opponent for this card. Hall (3-1, one KO) looks to bounce back from his first pro loss, a four-round unanimous decision defeat to Ricky Tomlinson in March of 2018 in Clearwater, FL.
