Unified WBC/IBF/WBO light heavyweight king Artur Beterbiev, boxing’s only undefeated world champion with a 100 percent knockout ratio, took care of business against Callum Smith on Saturday night in Quebec City. All eyes are now on an undisputed showdown between Beterbiev and WBA champion Dmitry Bivol.

“Yes, of course {I want the Bivol fight}. I need another belt. It would mean a lot to me,” said Beterbiev after the fight.

Bivol’s promoter Eddie Hearn told reporters this week that Bivol has already signed to fight Beterbiev in Saudi Arabia, but Beterbiev has to agree to his own deal to finalize the fight.

Beterbiev’s promoter Bob Arum confirmed that a Beterbiev-Bivol clash is in the pipeline.

“It’s not done yet, but absolutely we want to do it,” said Arum. “I’ll be talking to my friend, his Excellency Turki Alalshikh. I know he wants to do it, but Ramadan is coming. Ramadan ends sometime around the middle of April, so about three months after the end of Ramadan we’ll be ready to fight Bivol, probably in Riyadh.”

  • The same Beterbiev on juice? He needs to be fined, not fighting. And also check for plaster of Paris.

  • From what I saw today the ring size will play an important role in a Bivol-Beterbiev fight. A small ring favours Artur while a big ring is better for Bivol.

  • I can see Bivol ducking letting Beterbiev sit idol and get older typical move from todays fighters and a fight during is no excuse Beterbiev has fought before during this time frame sounds like BS excuse from Bivol coming

    • Bivol is not a PBC fighter or from the Floyd camp so he won’t be aging Beterbiev out. The fight will happen late spring early summer this year.

      • i beg to differ but yes they are “supposedly” going to fight later this year if not then Bivol is ducking i mean he has been Champion longer than Beterbiev in the same weight division the difference is Beterbiev has been trying to unify and Bivol been fighting safe or much smaller opponents but ok its time to become the first undisputed 5 belt weight division world champion

  • Beterbiev vs Bivol would be a good matchup. However, Beterbiev has a puncher’s chance while Bivol’s boxing skills are exceptional. Bivol’s ability to measure distance and laterally move would give any fighter troubles. Beterbiev would fare better making their fight rough and gritty on the inside. Bivol’s jab and movement would make Beterbiev work to catch him. I will go out on a limb… Bivol split decision.

    • Gvozdyk is the guy most similar to Bivol on Beterbiev’s resume. Going into that fight, many favored Gvozdyk. He moves extremely well and has more power than Bivol. He started well, but Beterbiev kept up pressure and won by KO. I’m not sure Bivol at this point is better than Gvozdyk was then. People seem to forget about Gvozdyk, but Beterbiev put him in the hospital and damn near retired him. Prior to that, he was the bright shiny fighter that many expected to be the Light Heavy King for a long while.

  • The fight will happen this year, no doubts. Bivol has the tools to prevail by decision, but all is about his chin and heart, we know what size is the one belongs to Beterbiev

    • I agree, imo Bivol will somehow find a way to beat Beterbiev.
No fighter is invincible, we all know that. Plus Beterbiev is approaching 40.

      • SO…..Bivol will find a way to beat Artur……..Thomas you dreaming in multi-incredibles-coloro-static colours!! To be honest, I never see a boxer who is a recking demolition ball as I see with Beterbiev. That guy scare the devil and even Bivol is an EXCELLENT boxing machine but……..what Bivol is going to do entering in the same ring (small or bigger ring) with Artur.Imo, there is nobody who can fight Beterbiev and , win.I been watching boxing fights for over 50 years and I never guess that one day, we will have a boxing machine like Artur. Well have a good day…….From Montréal

        • Well Pierre: Tyson, Mugabi, McClellan, Julian Jackson and so on, we all know the “invincible ko machines” who got their asses kicked. There is always a better fighter or a fighter who on his best day can beat an alleged superior opponent who had a lousy day.

  • Im not gona get stressed talking about this fight im just gona wait til this fight materialize and enjoy it I wait for the winner …the best one will win as simple as that

  • I am absolutely picking Bivol to beat Beterbiev and I’m even going to say he does it quite easily. His conditioning is top notch, his punch output is great and he has just enough power to keep Beterbiev away most of the night. We all know Beterbiev can punch. However, I don’t think he KO’s Bivol. Despite winning by KO last night, he didn’t look like the murderous puncher he’s made out to be, or Smith just has a great chin. Bivol by decision.

    • what about Joe Smith who lost to Bivol on points but was demolished in 2 rounds by Beterbiev? i think the pressure and power of Beterbiev 100 KO% will have Bivol backed up trying to escape and box but this is no much smaller opponent like Canelo this a fighter who dropped current unified heavyweight world champion Olexsander Usyk with a body shot and Bivol doesnt have enough pop 50% KO ration to keep Beterbiev off of him i do think its a great fight though but im thinking Beterbiev by late round stoppage

    • My good Berserker…… so you picking Bivol to beat Artur and it’s gonna be easy……….Another one who dreaming in:” nitcoli-aspirgo-fantasmagoric” COLORS. To be honest I notice that wrecking ball Beterbiev well, he is adapting the style that he need to crush the others.I like very much Bivol but, Beterbiev scare the devil and don’t be surprise that Bivol, as good as he is, will not make it for twelve rounds……If Artur, the night of the fight , if he is in good shape and healthy……..Beterbiev by K.O. on the 4 or 5th round. Have a good evening…..Pierre from Montréal.

  • This will be a good fight, Bivol has good skills, ring generalship, vs Arthur raw power and brute strength

    • Add to that, Beterbiev cuts off the ring well. He puts his opponents in a box where be bangs on them until they crumble. He’s not a pure puncher. He isn’t the fastest guy, but he steps in and forces you into a position where he can hit you. Bivol is very, very good. But I don’t think he can cope with the punches Beterbiev can lay on him. Maybe he can. but no one else has thus far. My eyes tell me Beterbiev is something different.

  • Bivol is very good – one of the best pure boxers I’ve seen in years. But Beterbiev is like Jaws….”A little shakin, a little tenderizin, and down you go.”

  • Beterbiev-Bivol is gonna be good.
If Bivol couldn’t hurt Canelo who was a MUCH smaller guy, he is going to have a hard time keeping Beterbiev off of him. I don’t care how fancy his foot work is. If he fights the same way against Beterbiev he gets KO’d. He will have to commit to throwing some harder shots which will make things much more interesting.

  • I don’t think Bivol takes the fight against artur next. He will find a way to pull a canelo and push it out another year or two to wait for the man to get older.

I usually pick skill over will, boxer over puncher, but sometimes that puncher is just too strong and determined. I made a lot of money picking mayorga over Vernon Forrest back in the day as you could just tell that mayorga was tougher and wanted it more leading up to their fights.

And that is the same case here. Bivol will look good for about 6 rounds due to his skill, but Beterbiev will slowly break him down and stop him. Bivol just doesn’t have the power to keep beterbiev off him. I’m calling 10th rd ko if they fight next.

If Bivol waits a year or two like canelo did against GGG then he may squeak out a BS decision too as Beterbiev will start to slow down and his stamina will begin to slip with age.

    • Two years ago I would have completely agreed with you but now it comes down to whether the King of Saudi Arabia wants to see the fight. Bivol isn’t turning down 25 mil. The only way would be if Canelo wants the rematch which is a long shot.

    • looks like Canelo learned alot from Floyd except he doesnt use the catch weight clauses or wait until they are past their primes or fights only in Vegas(his own backyard) so give little Canelo a little credit lol

  • Plz make this fight happen!!! For the good of boxing world over and for the fans it has to happen!.

  • This is a perfect fight! Beterbiev is a better boxer than most give him credit for, but it’s easy to get caught up in his power. However, he is hittable and does take breaks. As string as he is, he was bothered a couple times to the body by Callum. There was a point in that fight that I thought Callum might pull off the shock. All credit and respect to Beterbiev, but I think Bivol is better than Smith in all points of the game. In a very tough fight to pick, I’m leaning toward Bivol winning by unanimous or majority decision.

    • At what point did you feel smith had any chance to even survive, let alone win? Lol.
When i watched, it seemed like beterbiev was just playing with him like he could take his head off at anytime he wanted. Instead he was a patient assassin and took his time behind a precise and powerful jab. Smith was breaking down mentally and physically every rd from the opening bell. He made one little desperate flurry but other than that he was completely dismantled in a surprisingly disciplined approach from beterbiev. Even I didn’t think he could box that well.

Bivol is going to get absolutely destroyed if they actually fight next.

  • Question, since I keep seeing this everywhere about “boxing’s only world champion with a 100 percent knockout ratio”, doesn’t Subriel Matias, a champion at super lightweight have a 100% ko percentage as well? Is it a different criteria that I don’t know about? Cheers.
