The 33,000-seat Pride Park Stadium in Derby England will stage the WBO interim super middleweight world title clash between unbeaten two-weight world champion Demetrius “BooBoo” Andrade (31-0, 19 KOs) and Zach Parker (22-0, 16 KOs) on May 21, live on BT Sport.
“It will be incredible to walk-out and see the stadium packed with fans,” said Parker. “I can’t wait. Demetrius is a great champion and props to him for coming over here but I know I have the beating of him, I’m too big for him. We’ll see on the 21st, but someone’s ‘0’ has got to go!”
Promoter Frank Warren added, “There can be no questioning the pedigree of Demetrius Andrade. It is why we went above and beyond to win the purse bid to give our man every crucial advantage.
“It is going to be such a special night on 21st May and I feel sure the Derby public will come out in force to roar Zach on in the biggest fight of his career.
“When we teamed up with Zach he revealed his dream of fighting at Pride Park – where he is a dedicated supporter of his home team – and we set about making his dream become a reality. Added to that, the £10 going to the club is something I hope inspires the fans to come and support Zach and DCFC in even larger numbers than we predict.
“We have done this before in recent years for Josh Warrington in Leeds and Carl Frampton in Belfast and both were successful on magical nights. I see no reason at all why Zach cannot experience similar joy.
“Andrade is top-drawer and we know this, but he is moving up a weight to super middle, which is natural territory for Zach and he is a monster at the weight. Other British and Irish fighters have struggled to fathom out Andrade, but Zach is the complete package. Not only does he carry a huge punch, but he is also tall and technical with an excellent boxing brain.”
These guys can fill a 33,000 seat stadium in the UK. Wow.
Andrade have little more experience. Parker will by no means be an easy fight.
Andrades fight against Williams wasn’t easy, as I remember, some wobbling and holding from his side and I reckon Parker will be even more difficult to defeat.
Maybe it will be a fight where the will-to-win will be the most decisive.
Still looking forward to this one.
However, I do not see either of these two as a real challenger to Canelo today.
Agree. Could be either guy with his hand raised at the end, but I suspect it’ll be Andrade. Still an interesting match. As for Canelo, who even knows what weight class he’s trying to fight at these days… I certainly wouldn’t wait around for a match with him.
just hoe this parker dude puts up a good fight and BoobBoob doesnt run around the ring
My guess is Boo Boo will win a comfortable unanimous decision. Parker seems to be a little more “live” than most of BooBoo’s past opponents.
It looks like Andrade’s trying to stay a little more active. So good for him. He’s 34 now and probably already wasted his best years waiting for a big fight that never materialized.
Hopefully Parker can at least make it interesting.
I agree, Andrade should win a 8-4, 9-3ish type of a decision, but I think Parker is the type of guy he will eventually lose to – a younger fighter with a decent punch who just catches him on down part of his career. I just don’t think we’re there yet.
Interesting fight. I feel bad for Andrade. He just couldn’t get the big fights at 154 and 160. I don’t think he’ll be a effective at 168.
Unfortunately when there are up to 6 ‘champions’ per division, the big names can just avoid who the choose to… That’s why we have guys who are ranked #115 on Boxrec fighting for titles and guys like Andrade not getting to fight the best. Sad for the fans.
i hopen parker likes hospital food
Winner has to fight the winner of Benavidez vs Lemieux
Impressive that a stadium is so easily filled for such a fight..
