Wednesday night at the Atrium Hall in the Fairmont Grand Hotel, Kyiv, Ukraine, the WBC’s annual talent show brought the house down. With acts both professional and amateur, the packed house partied hard. Aside from two house bands who got everyone rocking, many members of the WBC family gave their best chops either at the microphone singing, or on guitar and drums.
WBC Female chairman Malte Müller shredded the vocals (and possibly his vocal chords) on AC/DC’s “Back In Black.” Referee Frank Garza played guitar and sang and several rock & roll classics like “Johnny B Goode.” Former WBC welterweight champ John H. Stracey brought it even further back with vintage Sinatra- “My Way.”
Roberto Duran’s son Brambi Duran sang two of his own original tunes.
The big surprise of the night was Vitali Klitschko on guitar, joined by Mauricio Sulaiman who started out on vocals then hopped behind the drum kit to play the Beatles “Let It Be.” Vitali also sang a few verses.
There was an air guitar contest with the winners getting authentic Mexican Tequila poured down the hatch as a reward for their efforts! A group singalong of Queen’s “We Are the Champions” was definitely the audience participation segment of the night!
