  • Curtis was a fine amateur with a ton of knockouts, had some good wins as a pro, and has had a solid career. But I hope he retires from fighting, and for good this time. The Omotoso fight showed his punch tolerance and skills are greatly diminished. He has a lot of knowledge to impart to younger fighters as a trainer or coach and hope he goes that route.

      • You’re being too hard on him. He had a couple of good wins. He was the first to beat Patrick Teixeira and he blew him out, stopped him in the second round. Teixeira won a belt, turned out to be a pretty good fighter. And he beat and stopped Taureano Johnson, I’m partial because I love Taureano Johnson, but objectively speaking as well as I can. he’s aight.

  • I’m thinking Stevens should have maybe tried to get down to jr middle earlier in his career. But yeah, now he definitely needs to call it a day. Wish him all the best.

    • Personally think he’s already walking on egg shells. But got to ask you how your recollection is on these two. Babs Mccarthy and Andy Gamigan.

      • I know who Andy Ganigan is, don’t know a lot about him, but I know who he is. Babs McCarthy, on the other hand, is a new one for me. I look at his record and I see Zeferino Garcia, Bobby Joe Young and Marlon Starling, but I’ve never heard his name before.

        • Mccarthy was suppose to be really good at the time i went to the Cuevas vs Ranzani fight in Sacramento and Mccarthy vs Palacios was the walk out fight. Everyone only wanted to go after Cuevas except me so missed it but Mccarthy body was found in the Sacramento River years later.
Ganigan was attacked by some 300 pound guy years back and became an invalid due to the beating died several years ago. He actually lived about a half hour away from me.

      • Andy Ganigan, I would never forget this man. He is one of the few to drop the great Alexis Arguello in a title fight, very brave and hard punching fighter. Arguello vs Ganigan is a worth fight to watch

    • It is strange they called this an upset. He (Stevens) has not been himself for quite sometime. The guy he fought has a decent record so not surprised he would lose at this point.. Would have liked to see him against James Kirkland. They would probably even be entertaining now but still not a great idea at this point.

      • I’m sure they just mean in name recognition. Stevens is now the only fighter that Conley has beaten that I’ve heard of. His 3 losses, Carlos Adames, JRock Williams and Daquan Arnett I know, but none of the ones he’s beaten.

        • From what I see on here Lucie, if you have not heard of them they cannot be that good! I know Kirkland is off topic but in his last fight I was surprised that put him in with a guy with a high KO %. I have never seen a worst 1st round fighter then Kirkland. He looked shot but he often looked bad in the 1st round of many of his fights. With Angulo and Tapia he was able to come back. With Canelo, the Japanese fighter who I cannot recall right now or this recent guy he did not. Although he did land some shots in the Canelo shoot out.

  • Damn I remember when his nickname was chin checker and that was years ago. Time to hang em up for good

    • Him and Jaidon Condrington came on the scene as the Chin Checkers. That was Like 2006ish then as soon as they stepped up their competition they was getting obliterated

      • @Noccowt:
        – Good memory.
        – I remember when Codrington was KO’d by Allen Green around 2005.
        – Take care.

  • I tried to watch the Stevens / Conley fight on YouTube but nothing yet….

  • untracked, on track…I prefer to be on track rather than be untracked. In fact, his being untracked explains his shitty work. This is the oldest mis pronounced thing in boxing. Hilarious. Get untracked.hahahahahaha

  • I hope Stevens is not boxing because of financial ruins and/or financial mismanagement. I hope Stevens is boxing because he remains healthy and misses the rush of competing in the ring. Unfortunately, Stevens should retire and stay retired because he is not handling punches anymore.

I am quite sure Stevens can find another way(s) to pass his boxing knowledge/experiences to young lions developing their boxing careers.

  • FYI: The Oxford Dictionary says that to “get untracked” is to “get into one’s stride or find good form, especially in sporting contexts.”
