Omar Chavez facing litmus test

Coming off consecutive losses to Roberto Garcia and Jose Carlos Paz, junior middleweight Omar “Businessman” Chavez has been given a virtual ultimatum by both his father Julio Cesar Chavez and his promoter Zanfer Promotions: He must win his next fight convincingly to restore confidence in both himself and the fans. Chavez (36-5-1, 24 KOs) takes on Argentinian Luques Nicolas Palacios (10-5, 1 KO) in a ten-rounder on Saturday at the Polideportivo Juan S Millán in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico.

Chavez’ team says he is in better physical and mental condition in his last two fights. He looks lean, strong and has a good face. The weight will not be a problem and he’s expected to give a great fight and win. “Let all the facts speak for themselves in the ring,” said Omar. “I appreciate the confidence of my father, my family, Fernando Beltran and all Zanfer Promotions.”

Also on the card is junior welterweight Pedro “Roca” Campa (29-1, 19 KOs) looking for his third win of the year when he faces José Adrián Pérez Aparicio (12-4, 8 KOs) in a ten round clash.
