Ngebinyane wins WBA Pan African 115lb title

By Ron Jackson

Sabelo Ngebinyane won the WBA Pan African junior-bantamweight title when he outpointed defending champion Sikho Nqothole over 12 rounds to win the WBA Pan African junior-bantamweight title the Royal Swazi Spa Convention Centre on Friday night. Ngebinyane (52.15kg) who came off a disappointing loss when challenging Yanga Siggibo for the South African junior-bantamweight title in his most recent fight in April this year upset the form book when he won against the previously unbeaten Nqothole (51.95kg). The bout was closely contested but it was untidy at times as Ngebinyane from Cape Town but now fighting out of Johannesburg did enough to take the decision.

The only other losses on Ngebinyane’s record were against Athenkosi Dumezweni and Rofhiwa Nemushungwa, both on poimts.

Ngebinyane is trained by Charles Mabunda in Gauteng and Nqothole who is from Mthatha boxes out of the Alan Toweel gym in Linden

Ngebinyane (52.15kg) improved his record 10-3; 8 and Nqothole saw his record drop to 11-1; 7.

The records are as reported on Boxrec.
