Lomachenko-Campbell set for August 31

It’s official. Lightweight champion Vasiliy Lomachenko (13-1 10 KOs) will face Luke Campbell (20-2, 16 KOs) for the WBC, WBA, and WBO world titles on Saturday August 31 at The O2 in London, live on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK and ESPN+ in the US.

Vasiliy Lomachenko: “This is a fight for history because my goal is to unify all of the belts in the Lightweight division. Luke Campbell is the next challenge for me on that journey. He is an excellent fighter who I remember well from the 2012 Olympics. He has a difficult style, and I cannot afford to overlook him.

Luke Campbell: “I think that I can knock out anyone that I hit right, I believe that I am one of the biggest punchers in the lightweight division. This is going to be the toughest fight of my life and I’m preparing for it, physically and mentally. This is Luke Campbell’s year, it’s my time.”

  • Campbell looked really impressive in his last fight. I saw a great deal of improvement since his close loss to Linares. Lomachenko can’t afford to overlook him.

    • Loma by way of fun; will tko Campbell in the late rounds after the 8th round i think !! No way can Campbell deal with Loma’s awkward style.. we’ll see.

    • With that being said, Lomachenko will still get no credit for beating Campbell.

  • Lomachenko by late round stoppage against Campbell. Lopez will say no mas when they fight. Lopez is overrated. Seriously overrated.

    • Lopez clearly showed limitations on last Saturday. Commey may even be the one to finish that guy.

    • Lopez won’t get past Commey so there will be no lomachenko fight.
