Los Angeles based Colombian bantamweight Oscar “El Jaguar” Negrete (17-1, 7 KOs) returned to the ring following his world title defeat to WBC champ Rey Vargas as he won a unanimous decision over Dhiul Olguin (13-9-3, 9 KOs) at LA Fight Club Friday night at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles on the Boxeo Estelar on Estrella TV main event. Fighting on the inside in the opening round Negrete and Olguin clashed heads a pair of times but no damage was done. In round two Negrete boxed as Olguin stalked. Attacking inside in round three Negrete stayed close as Olguin mixed and traded. Negrete landed the overhand right numerous times in the fourth as Olguin kept coming.

The fifth round saw Negrete doing the stalking outworking and backing Olguin. Picking his spots in round six Negrete controlled the pace as he softened Olguin going to the body. The Colombian Negrete stayed in control out landing and outworking the Mexican Olguin finishing strong in route to a decision win as the judges scored the bout 79-73, 79-73, and 78-74.

Guadalajara’s Guadalupe Hermosillo (12-0-1, 9 KOs) scored a fifth round knockout over Ernesto Guerrero (29-23, 19 KOs) in the super featherweight the co feature bout. Hermosillo popped the jab from the southpaw stance keeping Guerrero at a distance as he followed up with a straight left in the opening round. The second round Hermosillo kept busy letting his hands go as Guerrero kept pressing and was on the receiving end. A straight right hand by Guerrero buckled Hermosillo to start round three as he pressed the action throughout the round.

Continuing to stick the jab in the fourth, Hermosillo attempted to keep off the aggressive swinging Guerrero. In round five Hermosillo landed a low blow as Guerrero went down, the referee allowed Guerrero time to recover however moments later his aggressiveness cost him as a left hook by Hermosillo landed solidly as the referee reached a ten count at 2:30 of the fifth.

2016 super welterweight Mexican Olympian Raul “Cougar” Curiel (4-0, 3 KOs) of Tamaulipas, Mexico scored a second round knockout over Demetrius Wilson (2-9) in opening up the Estrella TV telecast. Curiel was patient trying to figure out the flashy Wilson to start. Attacking the body in round two, Curiel sent Wilson to the canvas with a left hook to the body as he continued to fight but the Mexican continued his attack as the referee stopped the fight at 2:13 of the second.

In the opening bout from the Belasco Theater in downtown Los Angeles super welterweight Blair Cobbs (8-0-1, 5 KOs) of Las Vegas won a unanimous decision over Jesus Rivera (19-21, 13 KOs) of Mexico in a scheduled four round bout. The southpaw Cobbs was on the attack in the opening round backing Rivera. Cobbs kept boxing and countered on the inside catching Rivera with the uppercuts as he kept coming. A clash of heads in the fourth and final round caused a cut above Rivera’s right eye as Cobbs continued to box working his way to a decision win. Scores were 40-36, 39-37, & 39-37.
