Emanuel “El Vaquero” Navarrete staying at 130lbs

Newly crowned three-division world champion Emanuel “El Vaquero” Navarrete has vacated his WBO featherweight title in order to continue his campaign at junior lightweight. Navarrete captured the WBO 130-pound crown by defeating Liam Wilson via ninth-round technical knockout last week at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

Navarrete said, “After closely analyzing the situation with my team, we have decided to keep the WBO junior lightweight title. I feel very happy with the three title defenses that I made at featherweight, but I am also convinced that my future is now at junior lightweight. We are going after the big fights at 130. I’m grateful for the support that I have always received from my promoter, Top Rank, and the WBO. I will now proudly carry and defend my junior lightweight belt.”

  • Of course he is. Ramirez is a difficult fight and there probably isn’t a ton of money in it and absolutely NO ONE wants Navarrete – Dogboe 3.

  • Navarrete is on another level that these other guys at 130lbs Mexican PowerCabronesss

    • He just ran away from a slightly more dangerous division at 126 and moved to a division with hasbeens and no hopers. He’s also joining the cast of 122lb and 126lb fighters who know the monster is moving up from bantamweight and so they’re all running away. Navarrete is a crude C level fighter who plays Rock’em sock’em robots against smaller foes. Technically, he got knocked out by a novice Junior lightweight a couple of weeks ago, but the bias referee saved him. If Navarrete fights anybody with any technical prowess with just a decent amount of pop, that is a full-fledged 130 pounder, he will get knocked out. I would favor Inoue to move from 118 all the way up to 130 to knock out Navarrete.
