Dickens-Galahad to fill vacant IBF feather title

The first IBF featherweight title fight since 2019 will take place on DAZN Saturday when Jazza Dickens (30-3, 11 KOs) faces Kid Galahad a.k.a. Barry Awad (27-1, 16 KOs) for the vacant title at Matchroom HQ in Brentwood, Essex, England.

The belt has been vacant since January when then-champ Josh Warrington vacated after the organization refused to sanction a unification fight with then-WBA champion Xu Can.

Dickens-Galahad is a rematch, with Galahad having stopped Dickens in ten rounds back in 2013.

“It has been eight years since we had the first fight,” said Dickens. “I always knew this fight would come again. I told Barry this fight would come again. I’ve been waiting a long time. I’ve had losses along the way, I’ve had to build myself back up. There’s nothing harder than building yourself back up after a loss. I’ve done it three times and that’s why I’m in this position.

Dickens believes that Galahad’s inactivity will be a major factor in their all-British showdown as Galahad hasn’t fought in 18 months.

“He’s inactive,” said Dickens. “I wouldn’t like to be in his position fighting me.”
