Zurdo comfortable at cruiserweight

Former WBO super middleweight champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (45-1, 30 KOs) says he’s planning to duplicate that feat as a cruiserweight this Saturday night against undefeated WBA cruiserweight champion Arsen “Feroz” Goulamirian (21-0, 14 KOs). The bout will be streamed live on DAZN from YouTube Theater at Hollywood Park in Inglewood, California.

“I feel comfortable at this weight,” ‘Zurdo’ said. “Naturally, as I got older, it was tougher to make weight and now everything seems to be easier. Like I always say, there’s no better teacher than experience in this life. I’m not training differently as a cruiserweight. I’m always working on the basics of boxing. Going into a higher division, one of the main things is that I’m able to lift heavy and not worry about gaining muscle mass.

“He (Goulamirian) is the champ for a reason. Arsen is the warrior with Thor-like strength who can also box. He’s going to be a huge challenge, which is why I wanted this fight. I’ve been working on my skills and my strength to overcome Arsen.

“It’s going to be a war. I know he likes to fight on the inside and that’s my specialty as well. I believe the combination of my strength and power will allow me to be victorious.”

  • This could be a good one. Hopefully, Goulamirian won’t be hampered by inactivity. But it is for this reason I favour Zurdo.

  • This is likely my card for the weekend. The PBC card apparently is not available in Canada to buy even if I wanted to…which I likely wouldn’t. PBC has the better card but you know I am tired of them first removing their Showtime fights from TSN in Canada and now this. Plus the card is better but not $80 better imo. I am not normally a spiteful guy but I hope PBC loses money on this. I want them to understand that the consumer is the boss and not them. Time will tell.

    • Without knowing anything about the business and fighter purses, what would be the correct price point?
After putting your own money up for the fighters, venue, marketing, licenses, etc.
Whats your price point to charge for all this $5-$10?
“tired of them first removing their Showtime fights ”
Im sure that was not their decision. smh

This comment shows the spite that your trying to hide. You’re making up bs to keep the hidden PBC hate going.
Why does PBC need to make the customer the boss when the other networks hardly ever give the fights the public wants?

      • I admit I do not know it all but I do know this…I still have access to ESPN fights, DAZN gives me lots of cards and access to PPVs when they have them. It seems it is always PBC with the issues. You are right…I probably do not know the reasons. Fair enough. I suspect they have been over paying their fighters. I do think the PBC card is good I just question whether anyone on it is PPV status. NJ, I am just frustrated. Being human maybe there is some spite there. I do think the consumer is the boss and in the end it will eventually catch up with them. Just my opinion.

      • There you go, Mr. One brick city. You probably don’t have two cents to rub together yourself besides I’m sure you got a fire stick anyway. PBC has done enough on their own for some fans to hate on. How they have been able to protect the charlos from ever defending their title is one thing, but its crazy how they are able to get fighters fights that have not earned perfect example: Keith Thurman. So, if it’s spite or just hateration, it’s the fact that real boxers suffer when a fighter that hasn’t fought in a couple years and gets a title shot against a hot title holder.

        • Just too many guys. Off the top of my head: Thurman, Wilder, Lara, Andy Ruiz, Spence, Danny Garcia, The Charlos, The Russells, Brandon Figueroa, Rashidi Ellis, Cody Crowley, Fundora, Plant, Adames, Leo Santa Cruz. Guys MIGHT fight once a year, if that.

          • Geez, Lucie, you got the memory of an elephant! I honestly knew there was a lot, but man I think you got them all.

    • Yeah, I have Amazon Prime, but the card isn’t there. If that is the way they treat Canadians consumers, I will close my account

  • Gotta admit, even though that 1 is going to stick out for a lot of people – you end up 46-1 and world champion at supermiddle and cruiserweight, that’s a damn good career.

    • That 1 is to Bivol so that should count for something too. Glad he is at Cruiser. I think his body has been telling him to go there for awhile. Saw him in person in Vegas when he fought Abraham. I did not approach him but I am 6 feet and he seemed quite tall.

      • They had a photo on here announcing the fight and they had Eddie Hearn in between Zurdo and Bivol. Hearn’s not a small guy, he was bigger than Bivol, but Zurdo literally looked like he could have picked up and eaten both of them. He was HUGE.

      • I’d be inclined to agree with you, Burucho if not for the inactivity thing. One fight in four years…. I’m leaning Zurdo now.

  • Of course zurdo feels comfortable at cruiserweight he can eat m9re hamburgers

  • Tough fight to call but I bet if Zurdo wins, Canelo or Canela will jump and challenge Zurdo and continue being a sissy by running away from Benavidez LOL

    • I could see Canelo taking that fight. As long as him and Oscar can get through this Munguia promotion without too much hate between them. Canelo would probably ask for a catchweight is he were to fight Zurdo. If he doesn’t he might be in for a tough night.

  • They both gave handicaps.
    Goulamirian is inactivity
Zurdo how well he is acclimated to cruiserweight.
I am picking Zurdo to win

  • Zurdo will lose then will say he’s comfortable at Bridgerweight for his next fight
