On Thursday in Mexico City, WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman unveiled the new special belt that will be presented to the winner of the Golovkin-Alvarez 2 fight on September 15 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The belt was made in Chiapas and has taken about three months to complete. The inscribed words “Majbanéj-Maya,” from the Tzotzil language, meaning “Mayan Warrior.”
