Homecoming WBC interim super lightweight champion Regis “Rougarou” Prograis (22-0, 19 KOs) scored an impressive eighth round TKO over previously unbeaten Juan Jose Velasco (20-1, 12 KOs) on Saturday night at the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Prograis, who hasn’t fought in “The Big Easy” since beginning his pro career, dropped Velasco in round five with a body shot. Another body shot floored Velasco in round seven. After another knockdown in round eight and some additional punishment, Velasco’s corner finally called it off. Time was 1:39.

After the fight, Prograis said he’s planning to compete in the lucrative World Boxing Super Series tournament next.
