Unbeaten super featherweight Lamont Roach, Jr. (17-0-1, 7 KOs) outpunched Deivis Julio Bassa (20-5, 12 KOs) for six rounds on Friday night at the Oasis Arena in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico.
Roach dropped Bassa in round three with a right hand to the head. The bout ended when Bassa didn’t come out for round seven. Roach claims the vacant WBO International title.
In the co-feature, former IBF super flyweight champion Juan Carlos Sanchez (24-6-1, 11 KOs) outscored Florentino Perez (11-4-1, 7 KOs) over eight rounds by scores of 76-75, 77-74, 78-73 in a featherweight bout.
