Undefeated WBC super bantamweight world champion Rey Vargas (32-0, 22 KOs) is on the mend after surgery on his left hand and expects to be back in the ring by the end of the year. Vargas says he’s recovering well and wants to defend his championship as soon as possible. “We are on schedule and that excites me because it means that I will return to the ring as soon as the medical team tells me to,” he said. Vargas is promoted by Promociones del Pueblo and trained by Hall of Famer Nacho Beristain.
