Highly regarded lightweight Teofimo Lopez (10-0, 8 KOs) impressively destroyed William Silva (25-2, 14 KOs) for the vacant WBC Continental Americas title on Saturday night at the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Lopez dropped Silva in rounds one and five before knocking him out in round six. Time was :15.
Unbeaten 130-pound contender Erick De Leon (17-0-1, 10 KOs) outpointed Adrian Young (25-4-2, 19 KOs) in a 10-rounder. De Leon recovered from a first round knockdown to claim a 97-92, 97-92, 98-91 verdict.
2016 U.S. Olympian middleweight Charles Conwell (8-0, 6 KOs) scored a second round KO over Travis Scott (19-4, 5 KOs). A body shot put Scott down for the count.
2016 Olympic gold medalist Fazliddin Gaibnazarov (5-0, 2 KOs) outpointed previously unbeaten Kevin Johnson (5-1, 4 KOs) in a tougher than expected eight-round lightweight bout. Scores were 78-74 across the board.
Unbeaten featherweight “El Chapito” Jean Carlos Rivera (14-0, 9 KOs) scored a first round KO over Angel Luna (12-5-1, 7 KOs). The bout lasted 82 seconds.
