IBF orders Abdukakhorov-Vargas eliminator

The IBF has officially ordered unbeaten fast-rising welterweight contender Kudratillo Abdukakhorov (15-0, 9 KOs) of Uzbekistan and former two-division world champion Jessie Vargas (28-2-2, 10 KOs) to meet in a world title eliminator. The winner of the bout will be placed as number #1 ranked contender and mandatory to current unbeaten world champion Errol Spence.

Abdukakhorov has been moving rather rapidly up the very deep welterweight ranks. He is managed by young upstart manager Vikram Swapragasam who has properly tested the talented Abdukakhorov with tough opposition. His breakout fight came last year against then-world ranked Charles Manyuchi who he stopped inside of one round. Manyuchi was fresh off an upset of then-unbeaten world ranked Dmitry Mikhaylenko. Erasing any doubt that his win over Manyuchi was a fluke, Abdukakhorov impressively and soundly defeated Mikhaylenko in his very next fight by decision in Mikhaylenko´s native Russia.

Vargas is coming off back to back draws. Earlier in the year vs Adrien Broner and just last week versus Thomas Dulorme

Note: Abdukakhorov already has accepted the fight. Vargas has until October 15th to notify the IBF to if he will accept the eliminator.
