Unbeaten super flyweight contender Rex “The Wonder Kid” Tso (22-0, 13 KOs), formerly ranked WBO #1, has apparently retired due to a serious eye injury. Tso was expected to fight Ashton Palicte for the vacant WBO championship, but Tso turned down the fight due to blurred vision in his left eye sustained in his win over former WBA world champion Kohei Keno last October. That’s why Palicte is facing Donnie Nietes instead of Tso for the WBO belt on Saturday’s “Superfly 3” card in Los Angeles. Tso’s promoter Jay Lau of DEF Promotions says “The Wonder Kid” is done fighting.
