Unbeaten light heavyweight Ali Akhmedov (12-0, 9 KOs) scored a fourth round TKO over Jorge “El Bandido” Escalante (9–2, 6 KOs) headlining Wednesday night’s “Hollywood Fight Nights” series at the Avalon in Hollywood, California. Akhmedov, under the tutelage of trainer Abel Sanchez, dropped Escalante at the end of round three, and got a referee’s stoppage in round four. Time was 1:43.
Welterweight prospect Abraham Lopez (10-1-1, 3 KOs), training out of the Wild Card Boxing Gym, outscored previously unbeaten Gloferson Ortizo (12-1-1, 6 KOs) over six rounds. Lopez overcame a nasty cut to post a 60-54, 59-55, 59-55 victory.
Undefeated 22-year-old welterweight prospect Brian Ceballo, (4-0, 2 KOs) stopped journeyman Tavorus Teague (5-21-4, 3 KOs) when Teague couldn’t continue after two rounds. A body shot took all the wind out of Teague’s sails.
Pro-debuting lightweight “Bam Bam” Adrian Corona (1-0, 0 KOs) outpointed Teodoro Alonso, (0-2, 0 KOs) over four rounds. Scores were 40-36, 40-36, 39-37. Corona is the son of referee Ray Corona.
Female super lightweight Elvina “The Warrior” White (3-0, 0 KOs) outpointed Jasmine Clarkson (4-12, 0 KOs). Scores were 39-37 3x. Earlier this year, White worked as a sparring partner for undisputed welterweight world champion Cecilia Braekhus.
Junior middleweight Vardges “VVV” Vardanyan (2-0, 0 KOs) outscored pro-debuting Cameron Christopher over four rounds. Scores were 40-36 across the board.
Cruiserweight Marco Deckmann (1-0, 1 KO) made his professional debut with a second round TKO over David Damore (1-3-3, 0 KOs). Time was 2:58. The 27-year-old Deckmann trains under the guidance of Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Boxing Gym.
Between fights, promoter Tom Loeffler, who promotes middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, called Canelo Alvarez impersonator Larry Treybig into the ring to poke fun at GGG’s archrival.
