Martin, Rodriguez, Elbiali score crushing KOs

Former IBF heavyweight world champion “Prince” Charles Martin (25-1-1, 23 KOs) laid out Mike Marrone (21-8, 15 KOs) in the first round on Tuesday night at the Rapides Coliseum in Alexandria, Louisiana. This was Martin’s second appearance since losing the world title to Anthony Joshua.

Former world title challenger Edwin “La Bomba” Rodriguez (29-2, 20 KOs) scored a second round TKO over Melvin Russell (10-2-2, 6 KOs). It was Rodriguez’ first fight since a KO loss to Thomas Williams Jr 15 months ago.

Featherweight Chris Avalos (27-5, 20 KOs) scored a fifth round TKO over Miguel Flores (21-2, 9 KOs). Flores dropped Avalos in round three, but in round four Flores suffered a cut over his left eye which ultimately led to the bout being stopped after round five.

Unbeaten light heavyweight Ahmed Elbiali (16-0, 13 KOs) scored a second round KO over Christopher Brooker (12-4, 5 KOs).

Welterweight Ryan Karl (14-1, 9 KOs) outpointed Carlos Velasquez (24-30-2, 14 KOs) over eight rounds.
