By Héctor Villarreal

In the main event of the season-ending boxing show in Panama, bantamweight Felix “Chinito” Montenegro (8-9-1, 7 KOs) avenged two previous losses by stopping Edgar Valencia (14-5-1, 3 KOs) with a brutal knockout at 2:33 of round five.

After 4 intense and very disputed rounds, both fighters kept trading punches toe to toe until a solid right hook of Montenegro caught the chin of Valencia who landed on his back, tried to stand up but he fell down on his face, forcing the referee to declare the KO with no need of complete the ten count.

Valencia´s trainer helped him get to his corner, where he fell again trying to sit on his stool while the fans at the Gimnasio Escolar in David, Chiriqui started a 2AM celebration carrying the winner on their shoulders.

The 12-fight card promoted by Casa de Campeones Productions fulfilled the expectations even though it lasted more than six hours.

Dominican featherweight Yohan Vasquez (24-2, 21 KOs) scored a ten round unanimous decision over Nicaraguan Edwin Tercero (15-11-1, 4 KOs).

Local flyweight Roger Saldaña (5-0-1, 2 KOs) remains undefeated by destroying Alexander Armuelles
(1-13, 0 KOs) at :09 of the second round.
