In a battle of steel chinned journeymen, Belen New Mexico’s Gene Perez ruined the homecoming party for Roswell’s John “Smiley” Herrera, winning a unanimous decision over six rounds on Saturday night (July 22nd) by scores of 60-53, 58-55, 57-56. Herrera was dropped in the opening round. With the win, Perez improves to 2-9-1, 0 KOs. Herrera drops to 4-18-2, 2 KOs.
The co-main event featuring undefeated Isidro Castillo Jr. was canceled at the last minute.
