Heavyweights Kauffman, Washington, Hunter win

Heavyweight Travis Kauffman (32-2, 23 KOs) scored a tight ten round majority decision over late sub Scott Alexander (14-3, 8 KOs) on Sunday night at the Pioneer Event Center in Lancaster, California.

It looked like it might be a short night when Kauffman dropped Alexander in round one with a big right hand. Alexander returned the favor floored Kauffman with a left hook at the end of the round. Surprisingly, the bout went the distance with scores of 95-95, 96-94, 96-94 for Kauffman.

Former heavyweight title challenger Gerald “El Gallo Negro” Washington (19-2-1, 12 KOs) scored a workmanlike ten round unanimous decision over Wes Nofire (20-2, 16 KOs). \

Washington tried to bum rush Nofire in round one. When that didn’t work, they settled in for the long haul. Scores were 98-91, 97-92, 97-92. Nofire was deducted a point by the referee in the seventh round for excessive holding.

2012 Olympian heavyweight Michael “The Bounty” Hunter (14-1, 9 KOs) scored a fifth round TKO over Iago Kiladze (26-3, 18 KOs).

Hunter dropped Kiladze in round five and got the stoppage after rocking Kiladze again. Time was 2:52. Hunter is the son of the late heavyweight contender of the 1990s Mike “The Bounty” Hunter.

Middleweight prospect Joey Spencer (3-0, 3 KOs) took out journeyman Thomas Howard (8-8, 4 KOs) in round one.
