WBC/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin has rescinded his 50/50 purse split demand for a September rematch with Canelo Alvarez. The GGG Camp is now floating a 45/55 split in Canelo’s favor, the same split used for the 2015 Canelo-Cotto fight. The split in the first GGG-Canelo fight was reportedly 30/70 in the redhead’s favor.

Golovkin was stripped of his IBF title Wednesday for not finalizing a defense against little known IBF mandatory challenger Sergiy Derevyanchenko, who will now get to fight another contender for the organization’s vacant belt.
