  • I’m glad it didn’t make it to the cards. It definitely would have been controversial. Beterbiev was clearly wearing the Nail down, but a lot of his work was tough to gauge from a scoring angle.

      • Sounds like Croswell shld be fighting the Gvozdyk next. Or is it all talk? I faced a fighter from that neck of the woods before (way back in my days of fighting) and he was tough as shit! Idk how good u are, them boys are damn tough..

      • @Croswell-Not trying to be the grammar police but are you trying to be ironic with the double negative? Chechens are notoriously tough sons of bitches that will never fold, never back down, and come prepared! I’m talking both in the ring and out. I seriously believe with their physical make and deeply engrained warrior mindset, they’re literally born a lot tougher and stronger than your typical human.

  • What is very curious of the score cards is the judging of the first round. Did all three judges right down 10-9 for Berbetiev before it was announced that it was not a knockdown? And did two of the judges in the next two rounds give it to Gvozdyk because they felt that they had been in error? I myself gave Gvozdyk the first, and Berbetiev the 2nd and 3rd. After that I gave Berbetiev only the 7th and 9th, until the fateful 10th. Perhaps I am getting old, but with the judges scoring the fight, I only agreed with them on the 4th, 6th and eighth and 9th.

    • I seen Gvozdyk win the first round clearly, until the blind ref called a knockdown. Thankfully it was corrected but I don’t know what the judges were watching scoring it for Beterbiev?

      • The weird thing is the guy who had Gvozdyk way ahead actually gave round one to Beterbiev! I thought Gvozdyk easily won the first, but only a couple of mid-rounds after that. I had Beterbiev winning and pulling away, but I didn’t even think the first round was close.

  • I dont understand why Beterbier was behind when he was clearly the one doing most of the damage and putting Gvozdyk on the back foot the whole fight. This is pro boxing not amateur…

  • I had Gvozdyk winning on points but with the flow of the fight going against him. He was wasting energy and not using his ability to throw combinations as he needed to (when he did, he did very well). Beterbiev was composed and methodical as his opponent faded.

  • Who cares about the scorecards?
The truth is what we got from this matchup. They truly lived up or maybe exceeded the expectations. Beterbiev needs to go on the fast track from now on, because he is running out of time. When he defeated Tavoris Cloud, I thought we had the guy at 175, but then all vanished through many reasons, fighting only 8 times in 5 years. This fight with Gvozdyk, should have been a defense of an unified champion against a worthy challenger, because if Beterbiev had remained in track, for sure he could have defeated the other champions in those wasted years. I believe the best of him was left behind, but he is so good that still at the elite level. I hope to see him more active and involved in great cards, is
a pleasure to see him figh

    • Sure, but who was looking to get into the ring with him during that time? His profile was not high enough to generate the money to make the risk worth it.

      • He had various setbacks that derailed the momentum in his boxing career when he was at his best. Surgery and long legal battle with his promoter Group Yvon Michel. He was slated to face Kovalev and the fight fell through because of the surgery

  • Comes down to damage. Beterbiev’s shots were bothering Gosvdyk regularly, especially to the body, much less concern about the punches being landed on Beterbiev. Two tough guys, teo class guys, great fight!

  • If someone didnt lower the boom there would for sure have been anger and questions either way.

  • This fight was a perfect example of how the announcers can sway people’s opinion. I thought the fight was pretty even. The announcers made it seem as though Beterbiev was walking away with the fight.

  • So funny. I actually liked Biev in this one. Not too many in this site did. Now they are all over the place. He was losing this fight. I was hoping he’d win the whole time. He win by KO. I like Bivol to beat him. I think it will be a wide score.

    • Bivol doesn’t have a serious punching power to deter Beterbiev. It could be like Giovani Segura vs. Ivan Calderon
