Zurdo-Rosado clash March 18

In a high-stakes crossroads fight, former world champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramírez (44-1, 30 KOs) and former world title contender “King” Gabriel Rosado (26-16-1, 15 KOs) will collide in a twelve round light heavyweight matchup. The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 18 and will be broadcast worldwide on DAZN. Ramirez is returning to the ring hungrier than ever after his loss against Dmitry Bivol last November 2022.

Zurdo Ramirez: “I’m glad to be back. I had a lot of time to reflect since my last fight and am looking forward to putting on a show against a very-game veteran like Gabe Rosado. Just like everyone else, I have goals, dreams and aspirations to be on top and I feel more motivated today than ever. We may get knocked off our path, but my quest for greatness will never stop. I appreciate all the love from my fans and supporters and I promise to be back with vengeance!”

Gabriel Rosado: “I’m excited to start the year off with a bang! I have a great deal of respect for Zurdo Ramírez. We’re friends, But come March 18, it’s all business. This is the kind of fight Gabriel Rosado shows up for! I will not let myself or the fans down. Thank you to Golden Boy Promotions and DAZN for the opportunity.”

Oscar De La Hoya: “This is a dangerous crossroads fight featuring the explosive Mexico vs. Puerto Rico rivalry. Zurdo will attempt to make a comeback statement against the certified dream-spoiler Gabe Rosado who has derailed the careers of various top fighters.”

Information on the venue and undercard will be shared soon.

  • Zurdo looked like a deer caught in headlights when he saw Bivol and easily folded when the bell rang. I’ll be rooting for Rosado.

  • Saw “Rosado” and that was all I needed to know it was a joke/comeback fight for Zurdo. Let’s not fool ourselves into thinking this will be a 1 out of every 8 fights Rosado upset..

  • Gabe rosado is a tought fighter but, at this point he has only been used as a stepping stone and punching bag by the young up and comers. He should consider to hang it before he seriously develops irreversible brain damage from too much pounding!

  • Another Rosado blood bath for sure. I don’t care what they weigh in at, Zurdo is at least 2, if not 3 divisions heavier that Rosado. No question Rosado is a warrior, has a lot of heart, will fight the best of the best any where, any time and all that, but you know he’s gonna get pummelled in this one. I could see his crimson face bleeding all over his white trunks all ready.

  • Gabe has too much heart, I don’t see this going well for him.
Hope he manages to get out without too much damage, gets a decent pay check and retires. He doesn’t need to prove anything to anyone, he’s a warrior.

  • Crazy.. remember when De la Hoya fought Gatti.. bringing the lamb to the slaughter from 1-2 weight classes below to make Zurdo look good. Hard to see Rosado having a career resurgence like Gatti though. Hope he’s getting paid well.

  • Rosado clearly in this for the money at this point! Zurdo will come into the fight looking like a cruiserweight come fight night! Early stoppage written all over this and hopefully Gabe will ride off into the sunset with 17 losses…my goodness

  • Zurdo returning to same level of opposition he faced until Bivol. Rosado really needs to retire and I’m surprised people around him let him continue fighting . No head movement, no legs, and eats tons of punches

  • Crossroads fight? How so, Gabe still has a go but will struggle to get another upset win. Props to Zurdo for taking on Bivol but man that fight was one sided, was just too slow

  • Zurdo will enter the ring weighing in the 200 lb range. It’s basically cruiserweight vs. middleweight. Oscar can talk all he wants about the great Mexico vs. Puerto Rico rivalries, but this is nothing but a great mismatch!

  • Crossroads fight for who? This is a squash match.

Last two fights: Rosado got beat convincingly by Shane Mosley Jr at 168. He was non competitive with Ali Akhmedov at 168.

Facing Zurdo at 175 (and 37 years old) doesn’t seem responsible or competitive. Hopefully Rosado doesn’t take too much damage here.
