WBO strips Mairis Briedis of cruiserweight title

The WBO Executive Committee has stripped WBO cruiserweight champion Mairis Breidis and declared the title vacant. Briedis was ordered to face Krzysztof Glowacki in a rematch after their controversial fight last June, however, Breidis didn’t comply with the WBO’s deadline and instead will compete in the World Boxing Super Series final against IBF champion Yuniel Dorticos. Glowacki will likely face the highest rated available contender for the vacant belt.

  • What rubbish! The rematch could have waited until after the BSS Final. Anyway Glowacki has no chin!
