Former middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs tells the Last Stand Podcast with Brian Custer he is ready to step back into the ring. The former champ also talks about mending his relationship with trainer Andre Rozier and the big break-up with Angela Simmons. Jacobs on training again with Andre Rozier
“Anything is possible, we’re just working on our relationship, we trained one time which is cool, just to be back in that good company I love it. That spark has been something I’ve been missing and I’m just looking forward to building on that.”
Jacobs on how his split with Angela Simmons last year affected him
“Your personal life affects anything that you do from your work to your everyday life. Sometimes things don’t go to your liking, it’s life….Regardless of my personal life, I think the thrill for boxing was lost and I’ve finally gotten that thrill that I’ve been seeking and I’m looking forward to seeing what it looks like in the near future.”
Jacobs says he wants to fight Jermall Charlo
“That’s one of the fights that I want as far as my legacy fights. I do see that as a big fight, and it’s been brewing for a long time so I don’t see why it can’t happen.”
Jacobs says his focus now is legacy fights and being a Hall of Famer
“It would be solidified if I was to become a 2-division belt holder. I think it would also be solidified if I fight the key names (Charlo, GGG rematch) and look spectacular, or have an Arturo Gatti/Mikey Ward type fight. I’m down for all of that!”

IDK but I’ve always seen him as a phony! Gabe Rosales kept pointing that out in the lead into their fight. Jacobs looked horrible in that fight and fights before that! Oddly enough his best fight to date was against Sergio Mora! Go figure?!
Charlo over Jacobs at this point of their careers. Jacobs claims to have that spark back, but judging how he looked against Gabe Rosado last time out might be a sample of a fighter who just doesn’t have that fight in him no more at the top level. Notice how he said he’ll entertain a Gatti/Ward type of fight, probably trying to sell himself for one last payday before going into commentating.
Too bad he’s been out of the ring so long, hopefully it won’t effect his return.. He’s a damned good fighter.. Welcome back Champ !

I may be in the minority here, but I like Danny Jacobs as person. As a boxer, he’s only OK.
I wonder if Jacobs is still living in Brooklyn? Andre Rozier is pretty busy with Edgar Berlanga, maybe he should look elsewhere…and…are we supposed to know who Angela Simmons is? Is she Russell Simmons daughter or something? Her name is put out there like she’s famous or something.
